There’s More to Your Cup a’ Joe

There is so much more to coffee than a kickstarter in the morning. You can also use coffee grounds to beautify the skin. Instead of going to aesthetic centers or purchasing expensive skincare products, you can use coffee grounds instead.

Coffee contains nutrients that improve the elasticity and firmness of the skin. The texture of coffee grounds on the other hand facilitates natural and effective exfoliation of the skin. With coffee grounds, you can create DIY home exfoliators and get the same positive effects similar to that when using commercially available skincare products.

Here are some beauty recipes worth trying out!

Coffee Face Mask

If you’ve always wanted glowing skin without breaking the bank, try this facemask recipe instead. You don’t need to buy anything expensive, and most often the other ingredients are already in your kitchen cabinet!

What you need

  • 2 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee or used grinds
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk, heavy cream, or yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Simply combine all ingredients and apply a thin layer of the mixture to the face. Let is stay on your skin for 15 minutes. Remove the mask with a damp washcloth.

Coffee grounds are loaded with antioxidants that remove toxins and dead skin cells from the skin.

Coffee Exfoliating Scrub

Instead of using facial wash with microbeads, why not use natural ingredients instead. Coffee grounds offer the same rough texture as micro beads, thus you are guaranteed thorough exfoliation when you use them instead. The nutrients found in coffee also facilitate skin regeneration so you get that glowing skin with regular use.

What you need

  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil, coconut oil, or almond oil
  • 3 tablespoons of coffee grounds

Combine the dry ingredients first, and then add into the oil. Massage onto your face in circular motion for faster absorption and improved circulation too.
